Corporate social responsibility is a large umbrella term that can encompass any number of different areas of business but we use it here to mean our ethical conduct, our impact on the environment, our equality and diversity principles, our conduct as a recruiter and a provider of recruitment services, our corporate governance policies, relationships with stakeholders and the shared values that guide our business.
We believe that through our strong corporate social responsibility principles, we can attract and retain the best people to our company and find the best people for our clients. Our corporate social responsibility principles are embedded deeply into Fawkes and Reece’s activities and those of our suppliers who are monitored closely to ensure compliance. Our energy makes us ambitious for our candidates and clients and for the positive impact we know our business can have on their lives.
The way our employees work is just as important as what they do during their working hours. Fawkes and Reece are a member of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (“REC”) and as part of our membership we adhere to their Code of Professional Practice. This code requires that all REC members must maintain the highest professional standards, conduct their business ethically and promote good recruitment practices through their work.
As a member of the REC, Fawkes and Reece are committed to raising standards of recruitment within the industry and being sensitive to and supportive of local cultural, social, educational and economic needs.
Equality and Diversity
Diversity is a key driver of our business’ efficacy. Diversity and inclusion make our business and the businesses of our clients stronger, more effective and a better place to work. We are committed to providing a workplace free from discrimination of any kind. We operate a stringent Equality and Diversity Policy and will treat everyone equally; never discriminating unlawfully when deciding which candidate is submitted for which vacancy. We will ensure that each candidate is assessed in accordance with the candidate’s merits, qualifications and ability to perform the relevant duties for the role.
Fawkes and Reece are committed to reducing our environmental impact by developing environmentally sensitive procurement arrangements that encourage suppliers and contractors to support our objectives and environmental programmes and minimise the impact of the goods and services they provide to us.
These are just some of the steps that we have taken in relation to our environmental impact:
- Harnessing the use of technology (Skype etc.) to minimise travel to meetings;
- Recycling waste;
- 100% of staff using public transport to get to and from work;
- Monitoring energy usage in the office and proposing improvements to efficiency; and
- Identifying energy efficiency measures for implementation in office fit outs and refurbishments.
Health and Safety
It is our policy that all reasonably practicable steps will be taken to ensure the health, safety and welfare of our employees and the protection of others not in our employment. We recognise our statutory obligations to maintain standards of safety and our obligations to members of the public, contractors and visitors.
Our Head of Contracts and Compliance works to provide and maintain safe and healthy working conditions, monitor safety procedures and carry out suitable risk assessments of all premises and tasks to be carried out. All employees are required to cooperate fully with the Fawkes and Reece Health and Safety Policy. This policy is reviewed annually and is revised appropriately in the light of legislative and organisational changes.
We are committed to having a positive impact on economic and social welfare in the communities we operate. For us, sustainable recruitment is about investing in the future by helping to improve the skills and aspirations of young people and people from diverse backgrounds. We are dedicated to building a culture where our employees, clients, candidates and suppliers recognise our commitment to ensuring that we operate successfully in our community and that we achieve our goal as a company of long-term sustainable success.
We are passionate about providing our employees with opportunities to develop and grow within their roles. All Fawkes and Reece recruitment consultants receive different forms of training; they are trained by their own managers on the job and by specialist third party training providers. We also offer all our employees the opportunity to become certified recruitment professionals through the REC’s Institute of Recruitment Professionals. We encourage our employees to have regular discussions with managers regarding their performance, potential and individual development needs.
We seek to reward and recognise individual’s contributions to the business appropriately – both individually and within their teams. We offer a number of incentives to build team rapport and encourage high performance such as team nights out, track days and holidays.
