We are working with a leading residential developer in Cardiff who is looking to appoint an experienced Design Manager to support the delivery of a portfolio of high-rise residential developments.

The successful candidate will manage the design process across high-rise residential projects, ensuring designs are coordinated, compliant, commercially viable and delivered in line with project programmes.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Managing and coordinating the design process.

• Liaising with architects, structural engineers, consultants and specialist subcontractors.

• Ensuring designs comply with current building regulations, statutory requirements and relevant fire safety standards.

• Coordinating design information to support procurement and construction activities.

• Monitoring design programmes and ensuring information is issued in line with project deadlines.

• Identifying and resolving design issues, technical challenges and potential clashes.

• Working closely with commercial and construction teams to ensure designs meet project budgets and buildability requirements.

• Managing design changes and assessing their impact on programme, cost and quality.

• Attending design team meetings and maintaining effective communication between all stakeholders.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking to speak with Design Managers who have experience delivering complex residential developments, ideally within a high-rise environment.

Candidates should have:

• Previous experience working as a Design Manager within residential construction or development.

• Experience with high-rise residential projects.

• A strong understanding of building regulations, technical design and construction methodologies.

• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and external consultants.

• The ability to manage design programmes, resolve technical issues and meet project deadlines.

• Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.

• A relevant construction, architectural or engineering qualification would be advantageous.
